Skicross Worldcup Winner Simon Stickl trained in summer on Skitrax

Winner will be made in summer
____________________________________________________________

The tough summer training on Skitrax already proves the first results! The German Skicross National Team showed a superb team effort during the recent Skicross World Cup in St. Johann in Tyrol, Austria on 2010, January 5th.

Three German athletes straight away qualified for the Olympic Games in Vancouver, being Simon Stickl, Anna Wörner and Heidi Zacher. With Thomas Fischer and Andreas Schauer the next two aspirants are standing in line with an already 50% win for the Olympia ticket!

The performance laid down by Simon Stickl on both days was sensational. Already in the qualification he was the fastest Ski Crosser. This sovereign performance he once again showed during the finals. With all heats he was the fastest at the start and only after four heats well deserved World Cup Winner in front of Daron Rahlves (USA), previous Alpine Ski World Champion and winner of the Austrian Kitzbühler Hahnenkamm Super G Race. “This is more important to me than the race, because Olympia was my absolute goal”, Stickl commented after his second top-ten-placement in the World Cup. With the ladies Anna Wörner made 4th position in the finals and Heidi Zacher managed a great 14th position.

Already in summer one realized quite soon that one has to keep a close watch on the German National Skicross Team. Beyond the summer ski training on glaciers, an intensive training took place from July through September on an artificial SKITRAX piste.  As material supplier for the skicrossers of the German Ski Association, SKITRAX Europe, the Oberaudorf (FRG) based artificial mat manufacturer supplied the athletes with an artificial training piste in the size of approx. 20m x 2m.

With a start gate in steep terrain and a 20 metre long artificial slope thousands of starts were practised. Under scientific guidance fast starts with high arm thrust were intensively trained and improved with the athletes. With this very new training method the foundation for a successful Olympic winter season was set. “I am really thrilled that, with the Sports Director of the DSV Skicrossers, Heli Herdt, our jointly developed start and thrust concept already now proves success and targeted our athletes into world class standard”, Wolfgang Schmidt, Director of SKITRAX commented in the outrun of the Ski World Cup in St. Johann.

“Winning is important to set accents and to excite the people”, said Heli Herdt, Sports Director and praised the races of Stickl and his opponents. “This was like with the gladiators in the arena in Rome”.

Once again the old wise saying “Alpine Winners are made in summer” has confirmed itself – on SKITRAX. Already during summer, when a SKITRAX video was made in the Olympic Training Centre, we knew that these athletes definitely will have a training advantage towards other nations, thanks to SKITRAX. Who would have expected in spring 2009, that 5 German Skicross (3 women and 2 men) will  be qualified for the Olympic Games in Vancouver!

For next summer a longer and larger artificial slope with lift is planned in the DSV Training Centre.

Then, however, with the latest and fastest developments “SKITRAX 2010”, very close to genuine snow! SKITRAX – always handy and there, where snow is missing!
