10 cm artificial snow at Hocheck ski resort  - Kids are excited

Sommer Rail with Skitrax tiles make this happend
__________________________________________________________

05.07.2010 - It finally happened this weekend.  10 cm “artificial snow” were enough for a 30 metre long rail at the lower station of the mountain tram Hocheck. Already at 9 a.m. freestylers from Germany and Austria got together to do their runs on ski and snowboard on the specially built summer rail at the lower station of the mountain tram Hocheck. Optically it’s quite strange when the freestylers get into action at an outdoor temperature of 25°C, wearing ski shoes, long ski pants, gloves, helmet, jacket and sun glasses, then stampeding uphill over lawn to then speed down the rails.

By the end of March the winter season with snow actually came to an end, however, with the new artificial mats from Skitrax, the season makes no difference, therefore allowing skiing and snowboarding in the summer months.  “This is like snow! Very cool”, commented Christoph Koller, on of the top freestylers from the “Audorfer” Freestyle team. “This is fun, giving me a chance to perfection my technique”, he said and took off to another 360° on the large 6 m long box.  A jump onto the mats and then again the new rail, a 6 m long double bar, is approached.

The rail track is 30 m in length and primarily serves the purpose to entertain freestyle skiers to have loads of fun during summer. The combination with the VIKING water jump near the lake Luegsteinsee in Oberaudorf is very practical. Railing in the morning hours at the Hocheck and waterjumping in the afternoon at the lake – this is the daily routine of Alex from Austria, Niederndorf. “And not only on weekends, but every day, because the holidays are around the corner, and then it’s fun in the sun”.
